Students are expected to make flashcards and answer the 3 questions about whales for homework. (Due Wednesday). 

Students should review words Wednesday & Thursday night for homework, to prep for the quiz on Friday. 

 

As of Tuesday, May 5th, students in Miss Brown's homeroom should have completed:

-10 Things I Love/Hate about my Book

-Summary of Book (at least a paragraph)

-Main Character Questions (They were supposed to answer the first 3 in class today, and finish the rest for homework, due Wednesday. [see attached photo for questions with example answers written for first 3]). 

 

Please work on editing and publishing your books. 

 

-Should have a rough draft of the main text of your Maine Animal book completed (8+ paragraphs) by Friday.

 

-Each "chapter" needs a quality "hook" at the beggining. (see chart posted Tuesday) 

 

-Read 20 min every night and log it on your Reading Log

 

-Don't forget to have a parent sign your Homework Log every night. 

 

Have parents initial the form, to show you've completed your assignments. 

Social Studies: Please finish Maine Weekly Week 12 crossword puzzle.

 

Writing: Finish 5 Paragraph essay on Winter Break. Needs 5 full sentences in each paragraph please. If done, can start 2nd draft on "Google Docs" on the computer. 

 

Reading: Continue to read 20min a night. Fill out reading log. 

 

 

 

We encourage our students to read at home. As an incentive to help them remember to read daily, we offer the "Home Reading Log" as a way for students to track their reading, and get rewarded in class for their completion of this extra assignment. Parents are asked to please sign the log and send it back to school every Friday.

Students will be making flash cards of the vocab tomorrow (Wednesday) that will be on their quiz on Friday. Please practice for 10min a night to prepare for the quiz. 

 

Plan a mean with an adult which will help your teeth, bones, and muscles. Prepare the meal with the adult. Fill out the meal plan on the worksheet. Please have a parent sign and return this page to class. 

 

Due Thursday.

 

Students have been planning with "Boxes & Bullets" for their Opinion Essays in class. Their homework is to finish & self edit their essays, so Friday we can work on "Publishing" their essays on Google Docs. Students have a copy of a "check list" to help edit their essays themselves. 

 

Students worked on "Opinion Essays" on Friday. Their homework was to practice writing a 5 paragraph essay from start to finish in 30 min, or to show us how much they can write in 30 min (even if it's only 2 or 3 paragraphs). 

We use the Hamburger Paragraph graphic to help break up the paragraph into 5 sentences. (You can view the graphic organizer in the link attached). 

We are giving the students a second chance to do this assignment. If they choose to do two 30 min sessions, please have them mark on their paper where one 30 min session ends. This is just a way for us to check their progress in their writing stamina, and to see how well they are learning the components of a quality paragraph, and a quality essay. 

Students may use the "Boxes & Bullets" strategy to pre-plan their essay before they start writing it.
