About Me

I graduated from the University of Maine at Machias in 2007 with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, with a concentration in math and science. Before becoming a classroom teacher, I worked as an Ed Tech in a behavioral classroom, provided one-on-one support to students, and worked in Title I literacy. These experiences taught me that every child learns in their own way and that building strong relationships is an important part of helping children succeed.

This will be my fifth year teaching Kindergarten at Mountain View Elementary. I have also taught fourth and fifth grade, but Kindergarten is where my heart is. I believe that play is an important part of learning. Young children learn best when they are active, curious, and involved in what they are doing. Through play, children explore new ideas, solve problems, ask questions, and work with others. Play is not a break from learning—it is one of the best ways children learn.

Play also helps children build important academic skills. As they play, they practice reading, writing, math, and science in ways that are meaningful and fun. At the same time, they learn how to share, communicate, solve problems, and work as a team. These skills help children become confident learners and caring classmates.

My goal is to create a classroom where every child feels safe, supported, and excited to come to school each day. I plan learning experiences that are hands-on, engaging, and connected to our learning goals. I believe that when children have opportunities to play, explore, and discover, they build the skills they need to be successful in school and develop a lifelong love of learning.
