I have been teaching students in grades 3–8 at Mountain View for many years, and I currently teach 4th grade math and science. One of the things I appreciate most about Mountain View is the strong sense of community. Our staff genuinely cares about one another, our students, and their families, and I’m grateful to work alongside such a dedicated team. I also have the pleasure of team teaching with Misty Houlsen, who teaches 4th grade English Language Arts and social studies.

Creating a positive, welcoming classroom is important to me. I use Responsive Classroom and Restorative Justice practices to help students build strong relationships, develop respect for one another, and establish routines that support our school's PBIS expectations. My goal is for every student to feel safe, valued, and encouraged to do their very best each day.

I earned my bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Maine at Machias.  I have three grown children—Jonathon, Sheila, and Claire—and five wonderful grandchildren: Natalie, Rihanne, Ellie, Jackson, and Opal. I feel blessed that they all now live in Maine. My daughter Sheila returned with her family after living in Fiji, and having everyone nearby again has been a wonderful gift.
